System Engineer – Lead (M365 & Compliance)

Job Description

We’re looking for a System Engineer – Lead with strong expertise in Microsoft 365 administration, security, and compliance. This role involves leading the IT infrastructure and collaboration environment, ensuring systems are secure, compliant, and optimized for business productivity.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage Microsoft 365 environment including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, and Azure AD.
• Oversee identity and access management, MFA, and conditional access policies.
• Implement and manage M365 compliance features such as DLP, retention policies, sensitivity labels, eDiscovery, and audit logs.
• Monitor system health, security, and performance, and handle escalations.
• Develop and enforce IT governance, compliance, and security standards.
• Support data protection and compliance initiatives (GDPR, ISO 27001, etc.).
• Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell and M365 tools.
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors on system integrations and incident response.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and support staff.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and related cloud services.
• In-depth understanding of M365 security, compliance, and governance frameworks.
• Experience with Azure AD, Intune, Exchange Online, and SharePoint administration.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
• Familiarity with data protection laws and compliance standards.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
• Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS-102, SC-400, or AZ-500) are a strong advantage.

Preferred:

• Experience with hybrid environments (on-prem AD with M365).
• Knowledge of security monitoring and incident management tools.
• Ability to lead small teams and manage projects independently.
