The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other documentation. They work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure budgetary and financial accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Analyze project plans, blueprints, and technical documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
Calculate labor, material, equipment, and overhead costs.
Develop and maintain cost databases for accurate pricing.
Assess risks and provide cost-saving recommendations.
Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals for construction projects.
Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier quotations.
Evaluate bid specifications and requirements to ensure compliance.
Assist in project budgeting and financial forecasting.
Track and manage project costs to avoid overruns.
Provide cost reports and analysis to stakeholders.
Work with project managers, engineers, and architects to align cost estimates with project goals.
Maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors for competitive pricing.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project discussions.
Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and project financials.
Ensure estimates comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
Update cost estimation software and tools as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
8-12 years of experience as an estimator in construction or a related industry.
Experience with commercial, residential, or industrial projects preferred.
Proficiency in cost estimation software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating).
Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry pricing.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
