In line with business strategy, develop and introduce new packaging solutions that satisfy the consumer / customer.
Work closely with the other departments in order to effectively deliver new, fit-for-use packaging solutions to the business.
To support the other teams throughout the launch procedure.
Responsibilities:
Awareness of new briefs in New Product Development (NPD) projects.
Assist with internal feasibility assessment.
Provide packaging solutions for new products, range re-launches and range extensions
Generate and manage the packaging critical path in conjunction with the NPD Development and relevant personnel.
Provision of all information in order for the team to finalize product costings.
Work with the other teams on pre-production runs, ensuring customer approval of packaging.
Follow risk management procedures.
Ensure that all packaging for new products meets with customer and business expectations whilst adhering to legislative, quality, safety and environmental standards.
Ensure all packaging for new products achieves manufacturing performance by providing cost effective solutions.
Prepare MOCK samples for new packaging, prepare KLD, develop artwork with the marketing team and creative agencies, approve art works, approve Chromaline, attend online proofing at printing stage.
Provide material specifications for procurement and take the blank samples, raise trial form and conduct production trials, conduct and review transit trials, finalize the material specifications and process steps.
Provide packing material BOM to assign to the SAP system.
Document the specifications, assign quality inspection plans in SAP system, prepare standard samples.
Retain packaging samples throughout the development process for traceability.
Inspect incoming packing material quality and accept manually and through the SAP system.
Carried out the commercial production trial and finalized the packing material.
Manage and develop cost saving initiatives in conjunction with the procurement team.
Work with the procurement team on the rationalization of materials.
Where appropriate conduct alternative supplier evaluation.
Identify and recommend changes to systems and processes as appropriate.
Gain approval for the use of new packaging solutions.
Be involved in the Company Management systems (ISO 9001 QMS/ ISO 13485), Product certifications (SLS/CE/FDA) and GMP audits etc.
Ensure that all documentation and procedures comply with system & product certification. audit requirements and ready for audits.
Support to other departments on all packaging related issues.
Establish and manage supplier relationships.
Play an active role in the commissioning of new equipment by attending trials and ensuring. that trial findings/results are reported, identifying outstanding actions and next steps.
Requirements:
Degree in Science stream.
Minimum 5 years in packaging development In FMCG company in similar capacity.
Experience in AutoCAD/ Illustrator/Coral draw will additionally benefit.
Certificate course/ Diploma in packaging development will additionally benefit.
Diploma in Quality Management will additionally benefit.
Experience with ERP system (SAP) will additionally benefit.
Experience in ISO 9001 QMS/ GMP/Product certifications.
